Buying Property in Orihuela

Orihuela old town. The area around Orihuela is very fertile and has been inhabited for thousands of years. Orihuela itself has been around in various forms well over a thousand years and in that time has seen conquests by and been home to both Muslims and Christians, and in its infancy was even occupied by the Roman Empire. Today Orihuela with a vast range of fincas, villas, houses and apartments for sale has a population of around ten thousand, is the capital of the Vega Baja region and though it is a city steeped in history is a place that both embraces its past and still provides a fully modern lifestyle for its inhabitants.

Orihuela is a much sought after destination for those seeking a culturally diverse city based experience as well as being just a few minutes from numerous blue flag beaches. The climate is superb and as with the rest of this region of Spain you can expect around three hundred days of sunshine each year.

Orihuela city view.During the days you can explore the many historic buildings for which Orihuela is famed including among them the Colegio de Santo Domingo Cathedral, the Iglesia de Santas Just y Rufina church and the Palace of Rubalcalva. When you've seen the sights you can sample the local cuisine while relaxing outside a wealth of cafes and restaurants, shop in the modern thriving town centre, browse the local street market, held twice weekly, or just take in the cosmopolitan atmosphere. During the night Orihuela has a vibrant social scene with plenty of restaurants, bars and nightclubs to keep you entertained.

As Orihuela is only around 15 miles inland it also gives anyone living or holidaying there the added bonus of being just a quick drive to the coast. It has easy access to the other towns along the Costa Blanca including the towns on the popular stretch coastline to which it gives its name, the Orihuela Costa, where can be found some of the most beautiful blue flag beaches on the Mediterranean such as La Zenia, Cabo Roig and Playa Flamenca.
