Buying Property in La Marina

.La Marina situated between Santa Pola to the north and Guardamar del Segura to the south really comprises of two parts, the older town which lies beach side of the N332 behind the sand dunes and around 500meters from the sea, and the new town which was built to accommodate the huge amount of tourists and new residents to the area in recent decades.

With the exception of a couple small newer residential areas the old town has a definite Spanish feel to it and is fairly sparsely inhabited with much of the property there being traditional fincas and villas until you get towards the town centre where you start to encounter a number of newer apartment and office blocks and a good range of shops, bars, restaurants and cafes.

.The newer urbanisation with many types of property for sale is made up of modern houses, mostly villas, semi detached and terraced houses, with a few commercial centres providing shopping facilities, banks pharmacies etc. La Marina has a huge ex pat community and with a good range of restaurants, bars and things to do in an area with plenty to see it is a perfect place for families, indeed one of the most commented on factors by those that holiday in La Marina is its feeling of safety.

The beaches of La marina are perfect for families with miles of bright white sand behind which sand the dunes, which offer a niche habitat for many rare plants and animals provide an interesting change from the beach while still being close to the sea.

Aside from the usual water borne activities such as scuba diving, sailing, fishing and jet skiing, La Marina also offers a stunning coastline with can be enjoyed through walking, cycling, on horse back or even from above via hot air balloon. Just to the north is a nature reserve with salt lakes where at certain times of the year huge flocks of flamingos can be seen and in any direction there are a myriad of interesting towns and villages to explore.
