It is split into North Costa Blanca which stretches from the town of Denia in the north to the Benidorm area and the South Costa Blanca which runs from around Benidorm to its southern most point at El Mojon. For many years this region of Spain has been a popular tourist destination but for a long while this was mainly centred on the large towns like Alicante and Torrevieja. Accessible via the two international airports, one at Alicante and one at San Javier, the towns along the South Costa Blanca vary from grand and historic cities such as of Alicante and Orihuela, the Capital of the Province, to small urbanisations recently built to accommodate the amount of foreign settlers and holidaymakers that are choosing the lifestyle of South Costa Blanca. These urbanisations, usually containing a wide variety of villas apartments and houses both large and small, can now be found along most of the coastline and are often within walking distance of each other.
